The Beach Walk Writing Method

(Or: My Seinfeld-Style Plan for Writing Books)

Something clicked for me on a beach walk this week.

I realized I may have accidentally created a rhythm for my life as a writer.

Not a complicated writing schedule.

Not a long strategic publishing plan.

Something much simpler.

Beach walk → idea → write → publish.

That’s it.

No overthinking.

No waiting for permission.

No “someday I’ll write a book.”

Just walking, thinking, writing, and sharing.

The Experiment

My first book is self-help.

My second book is a pickleball romantic comedy.

Which made me realize something…

Why pick just one lane?

So I’m running a little creative experiment.

Instead of locking myself into one genre, I’m going to toggle between nonfiction and fiction depending on whatever idea shows up next.

One book might explore identity, mindset, or designing your life.

The next might be a romantic comedy set on a pickleball court.

Then maybe another personal development idea.

Then another story.

Think of it like Seinfeld… but books.

A creative life where I write about whatever idea shows up next.

The Rhythm

My process is surprisingly simple.

I go for a beach walk.

Ideas tend to show up when I’m walking, especially near the water.

When one sticks, I come home and start writing.

Then I finish it.

Then I publish it.

Then I go for another beach walk.

And the cycle starts again.

Becoming the Person Now

For a long time I thought “Future Stacey” would be the writer.

You know…

The version of me who had already figured everything out.

The version who had earned the title.

But somewhere along the way I realized something important.

Writers write.

That’s it.

So instead of waiting to become her someday…

I decided to start operating as her now.

Which is why the next book I’m working on is called:

I Am Her.

What Happens Next?

Honestly, I don’t know exactly what the next book will be.

That’s part of the fun.

Maybe another self-help idea.

Maybe another pickleball story.

Maybe something completely different.

The rule is simple:

Whatever idea shows up on the next beach walk gets to become the next book.

And that feels like a pretty great way to live.
